Hello

Sorry to hear your having trouble please make sure you do not have a firewall blocking the software from communicating to the update server.

MM has traditionally used the FTP protocol for downloading updates. This can sometimes be a tricky port because so many firewall applications interfere or block the port due to its popularity for hackers finding openings in your pc security.
If your firewall is turned off, then a second problem could be the actual MM version you are using. Older versions of MM were not as forgiving when it requested your pc for communication to the FTP port. If your pc doesn't respond within the allotted time, MM throws up an error quite easily. Solution? Traditionall, we tell clients to just retry the process a few more times... it will eventually connect and begin the download.
As of version 8.0 Build 8034, this is no longer an issue since we have switch to an HTTP download method which is almost 2x faster and rarely if ever has a problem with communicatiion since HTTP is port 80... the most common communication port on your pc for which internet would not be possible without.

If you still can't get the download to work after trying my suggestion above, we have another method for updating. Call tech support for details on this.

Thanks
